ClosetMaid and Villagers for Veterans teamed up to help a disabled veteran regain her independence and design her dream home.
ClosetMaid’s MasterSuite series was used throughout the home to create a space that met her individual needs and allowed for independence.
Central Florida resident and retired U.S. Army Sergeant Pam Kelly had served 17 years in the military when a devastating injury left her a quadriplegic in 2002.
Villagers for Veterans, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping veterans regain their independence, heard Kelly’s story and wanted to help. The organization raised over $300,000 to help build Kelly a home in The Villages, an active adult community in Central Florida.
To outfit the home with resources that would allow Kelly to be independent, the nonprofit reached out to ClosetMaid for a customizable solution.
ClosetMaid was able to provide a flexible organization solution for Kelly with quality materials and versatility that will last and can easily be adjusted to meet her needs.
ClosetMaid worked with Kelly to design three storage spaces for her brand-new home: one reach-in bedroom closet, a walk-in closet for her master bedroom and a pantry.
ClosetMaid’s top-of-the-line MasterSuite series was used throughout her new home to give Kelly the personalization options and design elements she needed. The MasterSuite series provides almost limitless configurations of shelves, cabinets, drawers, hang rods and more to accommodate functional requirements in virtually any space.
“We wanted to design her closet with easy-to-use spaces,” said Brian Dougherty, Vice President of Building and Strategic Sales with ClosetMaid’s Building Division. “Many of the shelves, drawers and hang spaces are positioned low in the closets so Pam can easily reach her belongings without having to rely on help.”
The completed home was presented to Kelly on June 27, 2020.
Marie Bogdonoff, the CEO and Founder of Villagers for Veterans, coordinated the new home build for Kelly.
“Thanks to your incredible generosity, Villagers For Veterans was able to bring this project to completion and give a very deserving injured veteran, Sergeant Pam Kelly, the gift of independence in her new home,” said Bogdonoff.
The MasterSuite series checked every box and was able to outfit every space in Kelly’s home for her independence.
